Where our gold comes from
We work with three gold regions with a long mining history. Each nugget’s origin is shown on its listing.
Alaska, United States
Placer nuggets from northern rivers, washed by glacial water for thousands of years. They tend to be rounded, with a bright lustre and high purity.
Golden Triangle, Victoria (Australia)
The region of the 1851 gold rush, which produced some of the largest nuggets in the world. Angular shapes and a warm yellow colour.
Lapland, Finland
Gold from the rivers of the Finnish Arctic, such as the Ivalojoki and the Lemmenjoki, panned since the gold rush of 1868. Small, very pure nuggets that are hard to find on the market.

How do I buy a nugget?
All pieces are sold at auction on Catawiki. Tap a nugget on this site and bid on its listing. All you need is a free account on the platform.
Are the nuggets natural gold?
Yes. They are unmelted native gold nuggets, just as they were found, from Alaska, Victoria’s Golden Triangle (Australia) and Lapland (Finland). Each one is weighed and photographed individually and shipped with a certificate of authenticity.
Which countries do you ship to?
Worldwide, as long as customs in the destination country allow the import of raw gold. We ship from Spain with tracking as soon as Catawiki confirms payment. Import duties and taxes are paid by the buyer, and Catawiki holds the payment until you receive the piece.
Why is a nugget worth more than its weight in gold?
Because it is one of a kind. Almost all gold is melted down for bars and jewellery; a nugget keeps the shape nature gave it, which adds collector value on top of the value of the metal.
Are the bids on this site live?
Not quite: they are updated several times a week. The exact bid and time remaining are always on the Catawiki listing.
